For Parents

Parent Letter 3

Dear Parents,

It's that time of the year again, TESTING! I know for some this sounds scary and can be a very stressful time for students. I want you as parents to understand this is not a method to label your children. We as teachers and educators want to get a sense of what your child knows to better help them. To see in what areas they struggle and perhaps we can find a way to help them improve. Yes testing, just the word is not always a fun time but we try our best to prepare students and teach them the best test taking strategies.

In order to help our students do their best we have afterschool tutoring sessions as well as in school tutoring sessions. If you feel like you are interested in these programs feel free to contact me or come visit, we have information in the classroom and at the front desk. Our tutoring is absolutely free and placement is determined on need. Once we've looked at asssessment results and grades together we can talk about what we think the next steps are.

I just want to remind you all we want is to see how the students are progressing and to work on what needs to be worked on. Again thank you for doing an awesome job reading with your children and listening to them read. I can tell they really enjoy it. Great Job!

Sincerely,

Ms. Ramona Gonzales

Parent Letter 2

Dear Parents,

We are a 6 weeks into the school year and I have so say I am so impressed with the students and the progress they have made so far. We have been working hard learning many different new things. We have been doing a lot with word families. We've covered a new one every week. Hopefully you are seeing some examples of this in your child's work that is being sent home.

This week our word family is -an and these are words that end in -an such as man, fan, pan, and tan. We read simple stories that incorporate this word family and matching games so that students can get used to reading and writing these words. Identifying word families is very important because it helps children learn how words are constructed and can help them when learning new words.

I just wanted to say thank you from all the parents and the support they give their children. You are doing an awesome job. We couldn't have gotten this far without you. Thank you

Sincerely,

Ms. Ramona Gonzales

Parent Letter1

Dear Parents,

I am looking forward to a fun and exciting new year with all of your children. I hope we can all get to know each other very well and make this school year a great experience!

We will focus a lot of our time in the classroom on reading and writing, which are the fundamentals of an education. I will have a variety of different books in the classroom hopefully all will be of some interest to engage the students. I want them to feel like reading is fun and not something to sigh about. They will become excited to read and will be begging you to listen to them read! Writing is also crucial and we will incorporate it into all of our activities. I will also share some ideas of how you as parents can encourage your child to read and write at home.

We have so much planned this year and so much to cover please feel free to contact me at anytime for any questions or concerns you may have.

Sincerely,

Ms. Ramona Gonzales
